What it is

A point of sale that lives on the counter, not in the cloud.

The terminal keeps its own copy of the catalogue and every bill it raises. The server is where the bills go afterwards: stock, reports, receipts and the back office. If one side is unreachable, the other keeps working.

Every bill is saved on the terminal first and synced after. Wi-Fi drops, the router reboots, the server restarts — the queue keeps moving.
